Filmmaker Nicole Mackinlay Hahn is making
her directorial debut with HARDIHOOD. queenBea studied Fine Arts,
concentrating in video at Alfred University, New York. 1995
queenBea, a.k.a. Nicole Mackinlay Hahn, began her film career as
a petty thief, hawking her little brother's pixel vision camera
in the eighth grade to shoot friends during school. Her fly-on-the-wall
approach to cinema soon provoked an angry science teacher to demand
she erase her in-class footage. But queenBea's early brush with
the heavy hand of censorship didn't derail her budding career.
In 1997 queenBea was a recipient of the Kala Art Institute fellowship,
she launched queenBea
productions in 1998 to produce independent documentaries out
of the San Francisco Bay Area. Her credits include contributing
producer / videographer of the ESPN X Games, associate producer
at Jalbert Productions in New York, over eight years of assistance
to nationally known artist Deborah Oropallo... In 2002, queenBea
was contracted by Clif Bar Inc. to produce a 23 minute program about
the LUNA CHIX and their partnership with THE BREAST CANCER FUND.
queenBea continues to document Clif Bar Inc.'s journey to sustainability.
She also spent most of 2003 - 04 documenting the making of Ugo Conti's
crazy Boat: To be the fastest inflatable to surf the high seas.
This project is currently in production. Also in production: queenBea
continues to produce "The Josh Video," a 10 - 15 year
project about spinal cord injury.
